dental crownsThere will likely come a time when you will need a dental crown to preserve a damaged tooth. A crown is commonly used in restorative dentistry to restore a tooth’s function while adding protection after it has been damaged. Or, in some cases, crowns are used for cosmetic purposes, such as to hide an extremely discolored tooth. There are several types of crowns available, including ceramic, porcelain, and resin. Typically, the process to get a crown can be lengthy, but now you can get same day crowns with the CEREC machine. At White Willow Family & Cosmetic Dentistry, we are committed to providing convenient and comprehensive dental care using the best advancements in dentistry. With CEREC technology, we shorten the treatment time without compromising the quality of care.

Traditional Dental Crowns

In the past, getting a traditional crown would require two separate visits. During the initial visit, your tooth will be prepared to support the crown, which also involves repairing any damage that has occurred. Then, the tooth is properly shaped and filled to allow an impression of the tooth to be taken. The impression then has to be sent off to the lab to be created according to your individual needs. While you wait, a temporary crown is placed to protect the tooth until the permanent crown is placed. After the lab has made the crown, you go in for your final visit to have the permanent crown inserted.

While this has been the standard process to receiving crowns for many years, the entire process takes some time, making it inconvenient. Now, you don’t have to wait around for your crown with the CEREC machine. CEREC same day dental crowns allow you to undergo the entire procedure from start to finish in just one day.
